Second guessing every decision is killing your progress

Ever make a big decision between 2 paths? Maybe it’s choosing which business to start? Which person to hire? Which marketing initiative to invest in?

You pick an option, and then every day after, your brain starts playing the “Did I make the right call?” highlight reel.

Should I have gone with option B?

What if I’m wasting my time?

Am I screwing this up?

This used to happen to me constantly. But now, here’s what I do instead:

I pre-plan my worrying.

I know that sounds ridiculous but let me explain.

Instead of second-guessing myself every single day, I decide upfront how long I’m committing to the decision—usually 12 weeks—and I tell myself, “No worrying allowed until that deadline.”

Why 12 weeks?

• It’s enough time to give something a real shot and see if it works.

• But it’s not SO long that there’s no end in sight.

(S/O to: The 12 Week Year)

So, I go all in for those 12 weeks.

No second-guessing

No tweaking.

I commit 100%. All in.

And then, when the time’s up, I revisit the decision and ask: Is this working? Do I want to keep going? Or should I pivot?

Why this works:

• Your relentless brain relaxes because it knows there’s a future date to worry and reassess.

• You stay focused and give the decision the attention it deserves.

• You get clarity without the constant mental anguish.

If you’re starting something new, give it a shot:

Commit for 12 weeks to that business idea, marketing initiative, workout plan, whatever it is. Treat it as an experiment.

Stop debating every day and schedule that worrying for later. You’ll get more done, make better decisions, and save yourself a ton of unnecessary stress.

Let me know—what are you committing to for the next 12 weeks? Hit reply.
